Custom Orders
A piece made only for you.
We take a small number of commissions each year, and there are two ways to begin. You can have one of our pieces made to measure, the same design, cut to your measurements, in the leather and color you choose. Or you can commission something entirely your own, a jacket or bag we draw from scratch, in conversation with the person who will wear or carry it. Either way, the work is done by the same hands, at the same table.
The Process
How it works
The process is straightforward. It takes time. That is the point.

Tell us what you have in mind.
Write to us. Describe the piece you are imagining, the shape, the leather, the purpose it needs to serve. We will ask a few questions. We listen before we suggest anything.

We send you a proposal.
Within a few hours, we send a written proposal: the design, the leather options, and the timeline. Everything is agreed with you, in writing, before any work begins.

We begin.
The Hide Call. Once you confirm, we source the hide. Before we cut a single piece, we take you onto a live video call, so you can see the exact color and character of the hides we have chosen, right there with us. Once you are happy, we begin.

It arrives.
We ship when the piece is finished, not before. Most custom pieces take between 10 and 15 days from confirmation. We will keep you informed as the work progresses. There will be no silence.
The Options
What can be made to order
Almost any element of an existing Katian design can be changed, or we can begin entirely from your description. The following are the most common choices:
- Leather type, grade, and finish (vegetable-tanned, pull-up, antiqued, smooth)
- Leather color, we present options from our current tannery range
- Hardware finish (solid brass, gunmetal, antique bronze)
- Sizing, we take measurements by post or in person
- Structural details: collar height, pocket placement, handle length, strap style
- Personalization: initials stamped or embossed
- Lining material and color
Timing
Lead times
Custom commissions take between 10 and 15 days from confirmation. Rush commissions are not something we offer, the work requires the time it requires.
Each piece is one of a small number we make by hand each year, and each is priced individually, quietly, in conversation, once the design and the leather are settled. We do not publish a list. If a piece is right for you, we will make sure the terms are too.
A note on your rights: because each commission is made to your own specification, it is a bespoke good. Under EU consumer law, custom-made items are exempt from the standard 14-day right of withdrawal once work has begun. Everything is agreed with you in writing before any work starts, and if a finished piece ever arrives faulty or not as agreed, your statutory rights of conformity apply in full.
A limited number each year
We do not take more commissions than we can make well. When our current capacity is full, we maintain a short waiting list and contact the next person as soon as a place becomes available.
